I need 33 percent, how many marks left

Internal 12. Paper is 100 with 33 to pass. You walk into the hall thinking 21 more is the story. Then someone says theory pass is 21 out of 70 and internal is separate. Two different lines. MarkBoard asks paper total, pass percent, current marks. It does not know if your board splits theory and practical. You have to pick the total that matches the pass rule you were told.

Which box you actually fill

On Marks Needed to Pass put 100 in total if that is the whole paper. Pass percent 33 unless your scheme says 30 or 40. Current marks is internals already in, or 0 if you are counting the written only. If a number is still in a screenshot gallery, type from the marksheet, not from the screenshot crop that cut the total.

Numbers I ran so you can copy the habit

Try these in Marks Needed to Pass and see the same shape of result.

• Total 100, pass 33%, current 12 → need 21
• Total 80, pass 33%, current 0 → need 26.4
• Total 70 theory, pass 33%, current 0 → need 23.1
• If current 40 on 100, need 0, you already passed that line

Where people mess it

Typing 33 as marks not percent. Then the tool thinks pass percent is 33 which happens to match, lucky, till you use 40 percent papers. Also adding grace 2 in current. Dont. If you fail by 1, wait. A second classic: mixing marks of two different exams in one percent. Preboard plus board is two percents. Improvement plus original is a policy question, not a blend.

Some diploma papers pass at 40. Some practicals pass at 50 of that component. Run the tool once per component if they fail you separately. Aggregate pass is a different panic.

What this number is not

It is not a college seat. It is not a scholarship cheque. It is not CBSE or NTA speaking. Marks Needed to Pass on MarkBoard is arithmetic with the labels on the page. Rank lists, grace, moderation, detained lists, they live on other notice boards.

Before you send it to a human

Say the formula in one line when you paste. Obtained over total, or CGPA times multiplier, or present over conducted. Humans fight less when the recipe is visible. If they have a circular, the circular wins. This is an estimate. Your board formula may differ.

If the result already says need, remaining is 0 even if you wanted 90. This tool is the pass line, not a scholarship line.

I keep MarkBoard bookmarked because the panic is always the same shape. A number, a missing number, a relative who wants a percent. Open Marks Needed to Pass, fill the boxes that match the paper in your hand, read the yellow Calculate result, read the small estimate line, then go back to the circular. That is the whole loop. Do it again when a new paper lands. Dont reuse last week screenshot if totals changed.

Tiny checklist I actually use

Phone brightness up. Marksheet photo uncropped. Obtained first, total second, unless the tool labels it different. Yellow Calculate once. If the result is over 100 or a CGPA over 10 without cap, I did a box swap. If attendance, I say out loud present and conducted so I dont type 75 as present. If two papers remaining, remaining max is the sum of those totals. If parents are watching, I say the recipe before the number so they dont remix it. Then I close the tab. The number is not going to improve because I stare.

A note on English on this page
